Experimental multi-audio performance

Inspired by work of Edouard Glissant, this experimental community engaged co-created performance will include multiple audio pathways for individual audience members to  navigate their private experience of the live performance.

This co-created performance about Black experience will centre Black artists. The creation workshops will explore the historical, current, and possible futures of Black hypervisibility in Canada, particularly in the age of AI.

Premieres at the Ottawa Fringe Festival in June 2026.

To challenge traditional notions of casting and create open opportunities, performers will be cast via anonymous draw.

No headshots, no auditions, no previous experience.
All participants must be 18+ and identify as Black.  

On February 28th at 11am, I will randomly select the performers for four performers - three live stage performers and one virtual performed (pre-recorded or live).

If you are selected, you will be notified and we will have a short meeting to discuss the performance plans.

If you decide not to participate (no worries!), I will continue to draw names to cast the performers.

On the casting entry form, you can apply for either or both: 

Three (3) Live Stage Performers
For each performer, we will co-create your individual 5 minute action or movement based performance inside a shared curatorial and audience framework. Your performance does not require speech or audio, this is optional. Your individual 5 minute performance will based on key themes to be discussed.

One (1) Virtual Performer - Pre-recorded or live remote

Team Meetings: March and Aprl (virtual)
Rehearsals: May and June (virtual and in-person)
Performances: Between June 18th-28th in Ottawa, Ontario
Honorarium: $200 + 10% of ticket sale revenue
